Volunteer with us

Volunteers not only help with fundraising activities and raising awareness of the charity, they also help ensure the smooth running of our shops and offices; and their distinctive turquoise shirts are seen at all key events and major milestones for the charity.

  • Support your local community and make a meaningful difference by sharing your experience and insight.
  • Learn in detail how we provide a first class pre-hospital emergency medical service to the people of Essex and Hertfordshire.
  • Stand out from the crowd by gaining experience that can be transferred across to your CV and job applications.

Volunteering FAQs

I don't have any medical training. Can I still volunteer?

Absolutely! You will be helping with fundraising, not the crew. We are committed to ensuring fair treatment throughout the volunteer recruitment process. We will make adjustments to enable applicants to compete to the best of their ability wherever it is reasonable to do so and, if successful, to assist them during their volunteering. You can discover our open positions here.

How much time do I need to commit?

You can volunteer as little or as often as you like. We are grateful for any time you can give us. We have a range of flexible roles available that you can organise around your existing commitments – whether a few hours a week or a couple of times a month.

What skills do I need?

We are always looking for trustworthy and enthusiastic volunteers to join our team and help support our vital work. With a wide range of roles available, there is sure to be something to suit everyone.

What roles are available?

There are a number of different roles available within our organisation, from holding a collection bucket and looking after a collection tin round to manning an information stall, hosting Visitor Centre Tours at our airbases and helping in our shops and offices. Head over to our Open Positions for a complete list of opportunities.

What training will I receive?

All volunteers will be provided full training for their role and supported every step of the way by the Volunteer Team. We also train our volunteers to deliver CPR and use Defibs. You will also receive regular updates so you are knowledgeable about the charity, an EHAAT volunteer ID badge and uniform.

I'm interested in volunteering. What should I do next?

Great! Please head to our Open Positions page to learn more. Once you have found a role you’re interested in, please complete a volunteering application form, and we will be in touch.

Do you pay expenses?
