Our crew
Each critical care team consists of an experienced and highly skilled pilot, co-pilot, pre-hospital care doctor and critical care paramedic. Together, they bring pre-hospital critical care to the scene – enabling life-saving procedures at the earliest opportunity.

Our Crew
Our critical care team consists of pre-hospital care doctors, critical care paramedics, highly skilled pilots and co-pilots who are all focused on delivering the very best clinical care to the people of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. The team bring the hospital to the patient, enabling life-saving procedures to start at the earliest opportunity, giving patients the best chance when the worst happens.
Based at our Earls Colne and North Weald Airbases, our critical care team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our crew also provides clinical leadership to complex incidents, such as road traffic collisions, serious assaults, sick children, cardiac arrests or falls. We work closely with air ambulances in London, Cambridge, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, East Anglia and Thames Valley to ensure complete coverage of the areas where all services operate.

Critical Care Paramedics
Our critical care paramedics undergo enhanced training to deliver advanced medical care to patients at the scene of an incident. With vast knowledge and expertise in pre-hospital care, each critical care paramedic can provide life-saving care, stabilising patients and preparing them for onward transport to a hospital.
Pre-Hospital Care Doctors
Our pre-hospital care doctors are highly skilled practitioners with a wealth of experience in emergency medicine, delivering advanced hospital-level emergency care to respond to major trauma and critically ill patients.
Working alongside critical care paramedics, our pre-hospital care doctors increase the chances of survival and recovery for the most seriously ill and injured patients across Essex, Hertfordshire & Surrounding areas.

Pilots and Co-Pilots
Our highly trained pilots and co-pilots fly our helicopters in often challenging conditions, working with our critical care paramedics and pre-hospital care doctors to get patients to the hospital as quickly and safely as possible – saving time when every second matters. We introduced co-pilots in 2016 to provide increased safety for our crews and patients and give our pilots a better chance to focus on the difficult flying conditions they sometimes face whilst allowing our clinicians to deliver the best possible care to patients.
