Back our runners!
Here at EHAAT we hold 5 Gold Bond Running Places for the London Marathon. Each of our runners are looking to raise a minimum of £2,000 for the Charity and they need your support! Read their stories below and click on their JustGiving page to donate.
I work for the Essex County Fire & Rescue Service and so have experience with working with the Air Crew at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance first hand. I have been to numerous incidents where the Crew have been the difference between lives being saved and being lost. I support the Air Ambulance both financially and through raising PR showcasing collaborative working at events I host. I am looking to raise a minimum of £2,500 for the Charity through regular fundraising activities at the fire station such as open days, car washes and Santa’s grotto at Christmas time! It is an honour and a privilege to run for such a worthy cause.
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is very special and significant to me as they helped save my brother’s life. In 2014 my brother, Mylo, had an accident at work and was crushed by a forklift. The Air Ambulance attended and flew him to the Royal London Hospital where he was taken into resuscitation and then placed into an induced coma as they weren’t sure of the extent of his injuries. Mylo amazed everyone at how quickly he recovered from his accident. We are all so grateful for the life-saving service that the Air Ambulance provided and have been raising money for them as a family ever since. I am so grateful at the opportunity to run the Marathon in aid of EHAAT and look to raise as much money as I can.
My son Jacob had a serious motorbike accident in March that was attended to by Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. They saved his life at the scene of the accident and flew him to the Royal London Hospital. I would like to say thank you to EHAAT for saving my son’s life and raise money for this life-saving service so that they can carry on saving other people’s lives too. I will be hosting a number of fundraising events such as curry and quiz nights as well as getting the school I work at involved.
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance attended my Mum in March 2016. Sadly she passed away however I have been raising money ever since so that others can receive this life-saving service. Last year I ran 30k and raised around £1,500. This year I have raised the bar and am running double (ultra) marathons and have set myself a target of £8,000. To raise this sponsorship money I have involved the company that I work for, Porshe Retail, in raising the profile of EHAAT and raising as much money as possible through such methods as a charity auction at our event.
Essex & Herts Air Ambulance attended my father when he passed away in May 2012 and it was this that has motivated me to run for the Charity. I have previously held fundraisers for EHAAT such as holding fetes and even a sleep over in a pub so look forward to raising even more money for such a great cause. I can’t thank EHAAT enough for all that they did. I will be running the marathon for them and my father Peter Whittle.
