Your Support Keeps EHAAT Flying This Air Ambulance Week

SHARE

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) is proud to join air ambulance charities across the UK in marking Air Ambulance Week (8–14 September), a national awareness week organised by Air Ambulances UK (AAUK).

This year’s campaign, proudly sponsored by Milbank Concrete Products, shares one powerful message: ‘Every Mission Starts With You’ – highlighting how the generosity of local communities makes it possible for air ambulance charities to continue delivering life-saving care.

On average, EHAAT is dispatched seven times a day to some of the most critically ill and injured patients across Essex, Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas. These missions are funded almost entirely by public donations, with no regular direct funding from the Government or National Lottery.

So far this year, EHAAT’s expert critical care teams have been dispatched 1,732 times and have attended to 1,199 patients, delivering advanced pre-hospital interventions at the scene, often before patients reach hospital.

Whether through donations, fundraising, volunteering, or shopping in EHAAT’s charity shops, every act of support plays a vital role in ensuring crews can continue to respond when every second counts.

Dr Tony Joy, Medical Director at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, said:

“Air Ambulance Week is a reminder that our service simply would not exist without the incredible support of our community. Every call we attend, every patient we treat, is powered by people who choose to give, fundraise, or support us in other ways. Together, they make it possible for our teams to deliver hospital-level critical care to patients in their moment of greatest need.”

EHAAT fundraising and volunteer teams will be marking Air Ambulance Week with bucket collections and pop-up stands at popular shopping locations across Essex and Hertfordshire.
