Following on from #ShirtsForHeroes auction last year, Graham Budd Auctions’ is proud to once again be supporting Head of Kit and Equipment for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Steve Dukes, as he continues to raise funds for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) in memory of his father who passed away in May 2020. Steve has amassed a fantastic collection of almost 80 signed items all connected to notable names in the sporting world. Ranging from English & International football club jerseys to signed Cricket & Rugby shirts, Boots, Cricket bat, Boxing & Wrestling equipment which will be offered in a special timed 16-day auction from 09:00 (GMT) on Saturday, June 11 to 18:00 on Sunday, June 26, 2022. The online sale will take place via https://bidlive.grahambuddauctions.co.uk/auctions/8215/srgrah10034 and a Graham Budd Auctions’ Certificate of Authenticity will accompany each item.
Prior to the sale, Steve Dukes commented: “Just over two years ago, my father Charlie passed away after sustaining substantial head injuries in a freak bicycle accident. He was an active man who loved every aspect of life and his amazing smile would brighten any room. The wonderful people at Essex & Herts Air Ambulance assisted and airlifted him to the Royal London Hospital, where he remained in a coma for six days.”
He goes on to say: “My family were shocked and devastated by his death. EHAATs Patient Liaison Team were able to emotionally support our family by visiting us at home – this gave us a better understanding of the injuries my father had sustained as well as answering many unanswered questions we needed to ask. This was an extremely important process as my family and I found this comforting and reassuring. Essex & Herts Air Ambulance is an amazing charity, so I am really pleased to be able to help them in any way I can.”
As Adam Gascgoine, CEO of Graham Budd Auctions, commented: “We are delighted to be offering player-signed football shirts and sports memorabilia collected by Steve Dukes through his contacts in the sporting world. Collectors will be able to place bids throughout the 16-day auction and all profits from the sale will be donated to Essex & Herts Air Ambulance.”
He continues: “It is no surprise that the auction will include several items donated by Spurs and England Captain Harry Kane. It’s a great time for the auction to start as earlier this week, Kane’s late penalty gave England a Nations League draw in Germany as he became only the second man to score 50 goals for his country.”
Emma Barker, Head of Income Generation for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance, added: “We are so grateful to Steve for organising his second auction in aid of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance. Steve puts a huge amount of effort into amassing his amazing auction lots, which attract a great deal of interest and generate much-needed funds for the charity. Steve knows that the air ambulance does not receive statutory funding from the Government – and this drives him on to do everything he can to support our life-saving work. We thank him wholeheartedly for everything that he does in memory of his beloved dad, Charlie.”
Among the highlights of the 2022 sale is Harry Kane’s signed white England FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Qualifier no.9 jersey v San Marino from November 2021, which is expected to fetch £400-600. England defeated San Marino 10-0, with Harry Kane scoring two penalties and two goals. Roberto Firmino’s signed red Liverpool no.9 home jersey for the season 2021-22 carries an estimate of £300-500 as does Kevin De Bruyne’s signed blue Manchester City no.17 home jersey. Cristiano Ronaldo’s signed red Manchester United no.7 home jersey for the season 2021-22 is also estimated at £300-500 as is Harry Kane’s signed white Tottenham Hotspur no.10 home jersey, season 2021-22. Alexandre Lacazette’s signed red and white Arsenal no.9 home jersey, season 2021-22 is expected to fetch £250-350 as is Christian Eriksen’s signed red and white striped Brentford no.21 home jersey, season 2021-22 and Declan Rice’s signed claret and blue West Ham United no.41 home jersey, season 2021-22. Jordan Pickford’s signed green Everton no.1 goalkeeper’s away jersey, season 2021-22 is estimated at £200-300. Joe Hart’s signed yellow and black Celtic no.15 goalkeeper’s home jersey, season 2021-22 is hoped to sell for £150-250 as is Mason Mount’s signed yellow and black Chelsea no.19 away jersey, season 2021-22.
From the European Clubs and International teams: Robert Lewandowski’s signed red FC Bayern Munich no.9 home jersey, season 2021-22 carries an estimate of £300-500 as does Son Heung-min’s signed pink and red South Korea FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022
Qualifiers no.7 home jersey. Gareth Bale’s squad signed white Real Madrid CF no.18 home jersey, season 2021-22 is estimated at £250-350, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic squad red and black striped AC Milan no.21 home jersey, season 2019-20 which has been signed by several of the teams players is hoped to fetch £200-300 as is Memphis Depay squad signed red and blue Barcelona no.9 home jersey, season 2021-22 – signed in black marker pen by approximately 20 squad members on the front including Depay, Pique, Alves, Torres, and others.
Outside Football, other items include Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas’ signed white Mercedes Petronas F1 shirt, circa 2021 which is estimated at £120-150, while British boxer Anthony Joshua’s signed gold glove is expected to sell for £150-200.
