Rising Aviation Fuel Costs

SHARE

As with everyone, we are having to absorb considerably higher fuel costs and this is something we’re closely monitoring. We’ve seen aviation fuel costs almost double which has a significant impact.

With an average of 2,500 missions a year, it already costs a million pounds a month to keep the helicopters in the air and the service running. As a charity, we receive no government funding so have to cover all these costs ourselves.

We’re so grateful for the support we already get from the community without whom we simply couldn’t keep the helicopters flying. It’s at times like these that we’re having to ask people to think about any extra support they can give Donate here

We are fully committed to keeping our helicopters flying and our critical care teams responding 24/7. Any disruption to the availability, accessibility or cost of fuel would have an immediate and direct impact on our ability to reach patients. This is why we are also actively engaged with AAUK’s call for Government action to ensure that we (and all air ambulance charities) are formally included within national fuel resilience and prioritisation planning in line with other frontline emergency responders.
