A sold-out crowd witnessed a thrilling charity football match on Sunday 4th May as the Premier League (PL) All-Stars, managed by film star and Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) ambassador Ray Winstone, faced off against Hashtag United. The event raised an incredible £47,488 for the Charlie Dukes Fund, which supports local charities including EHAAT and Isabel Hospice.

Ray Winstone, who has been a dedicated supporter of the annual event, led a team of football legends, including Pascal Chimbonde, Danny Simpson, Darren Brent, David Bentley, Wayne Routledge, Joe Cole and Troy Deane, while Peter Crouch stepped in as his assistant manager. Hashtag United, with players including Sidemen’s Ethan Payne and Love Island’s Toby Aromolaran, secured a 2-1 victory. The match, held at Bishop’s Stortford Football Club, marked the third annual Charlie Dukes Fund Charity Football Match, bringing together stars and supporters for a great cause.

Steve Dukes, founder of the Charlie Dukes Fund, said: “This is our third PL All-Stars match, and it just keeps getting better. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. The support has been phenomenal, and I can’t thank the players, Ray, Peter, and all the fans enough.”

Stacey Wilson, Fundraising Manager at EHAAT, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Steve for organising such a fantastic event. The funds raised will help us continue providing life-saving emergency care to those who need it most.”

The Charlie Dukes Fund, founded by Tottenham Hotspur kit man Steve Dukes in memory of his father, Charlie, has now raised over £250,000 for local charities through football-themed events. EHAAT was one of the beneficiaries again this year, as the air ambulance charity played a crucial role following a cycling accident involving Charlie Dukes.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance relies on charitable donations to continue providing its life-saving service, and events like the Charlie Dukes Fund Charity Football Match make a real difference.
