Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) mascot Pilot Pete took a break from his normal duties recently to do some dog walking at Hatfield House, the venue for EHAAT’s Heli Hounds Dog Walk and Show on Sunday 9th June.

While enjoying the picturesque landscape around the historic house, Pete bumped into four delightful Miniature Schnauzers; Hattie, Mabel, Flo and Tilly. They were being exercised by owners Chris Goward and Juliet Arthur.

Chris said: “It was great to meet Pilot Pete. The dogs seemed to get over their surprise at the rather unusual human quite quickly. Most of the people they meet are less colourful! The event sounds a lot of fun, and it’s a good cause – we will do our best to be there and meet Pilot Pete again.”

Owners can register now for the event on June 9th through the website or by calling 0345 2417 690.

Dogs and their owners will be walking in support of their local life-saving Charity. There is a choice of three clearly-marked woodland walks – over one, two or three miles – meaning there’s a route for everyone.

After the walk a fun dog show will provide some friendly competition, with a selection of classes to enter. These include; Best Puppy, Best Veteran, Lovely Lady, Fabulous Fella, Best Rescue Rehome, Bad Hair Day and Young Handler.

Families looking for a great day out need look no further, with lots of dog-related attractions to enjoy and stalls to browse. TV dog behaviourist Dima Yeremenko, who has worked with the likes of Paul O’Grady and Noel Fitzpatrick, is giving demonstrations and sharing top training tips.

EHAAT Events Manager Emily Donnachie said: “Hatfield House has beautiful grounds, so our dog-owning supporters will enjoy a day of doggy fun in support of their local life-saving charity in an amazing setting.

As well as three lovely routes to enjoy, there will be lots of attractions and activities to keep the whole family and their dogs entertained. Whether you have got a young pedigree or an aging mongrel, there will be something for everyone. Bring your family, a picnic and enjoy the whole day!”

Tickets for the walk cost just £5 if purchased by Thursday June 6th, or £10 on the day. Entries for the dog show cost £1.50 per dog per class, or £2 on the day.
