Over £41,000 was raised for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) by the Motorcycle Run and Harwich Family Fun Day on Sunday 9th September. This figure is set to rise once all donations and sponsorship money from riders has been received.

The event saw around 4,000 motorcyclists ride from Ford, Dunton, to Harwich where hundreds turned out to welcome the riders at a Family Fun Day. Spectators and participants enjoyed a day of entertainment including live music, trade stands and a range of food outlets. A highlight of the afternoon was a visit by the Charity’s MD902 helicopter and crew.

Jen Wall, Volunteer and Events Lead for EHAAT said:

We are grateful to the biking community for supporting this event so enthusiastically, to all the people who turned out along the route and at the finish to support them. We would also like to thank all our volunteers and our sponsors Woodland Group and Swinton Insurance.”

“As a Charity which receives no direct funding from Government, the money raised by events such as this is vital in supporting our life-saving work. With so many exciting things for people to enjoy, there was no shortage of things to do and the weather was kind to us too.

“Unfortunately, there was an accident following the event as a rider headed for home. Our thoughts are with the rider and we wish them all the best in their recovery.”
