Conquer the cool mornings and find your boldest and brightest Lycra to get ready for this Charity cycle ride!

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance’s Colne Valley Cycle Ride returns for its 10th anniversary this April, and there are plenty of surprises in store for the special occasion!

Over the course of 10 years, the Cycle Ride has raised an amazing amount for the Charity, and has grown to see hundreds of cyclists and cycling clubs return every year to take on the challenge and donate to the Air Ambulance.

This year, to celebrate its decennial event, an 80 mile route has been added for the first time in collaboration with Braintree District Council – and cyclists who dare to take on the challenge will get the opportunity to experience part of the Tour de France route, stretching from Finchingfield to Braintree, before re-joining the ride and making for the finish line.

Keen cyclists will be able to choose from the 80 mile, 50 mile or 20 mile routes, and there’s also the option of a 3 mile family ride around Earls Colne Airfield. Pre-registration costs £17 and Under 14’s can attend the ride for free as long as they’re accompanied by an adult.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Events Manager, Jen Wall, said: “The Colne Valley Cycle Ride is always a great event for us. It’s always been a brilliant way to bring the local community together – whether that’s by including cycling clubs or families and friends who fancy the challenge of a spring ride, and I think it always feels quite special because of its proximity to the Airbase. For the Colne Valley Cycle Ride to be celebrating 10 years of successful fundraising is exceptional, and we’re thrilled to be able to mark this occasion by creating the 80-mile route for the first time!”

The Colne Valley Cycle Ride is being sponsored by MDS Civil Engineering Ltd.
