“I did it my way” raises £15k and rising

SHARE

With the annual motorcycle run from North Weald to Harwich cancelled this year due to Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral, riders took it upon themselves to do it their way instead.

As one of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance’s flagship fundraising events, over 1,100 people had pre-registered to take part in the annual ‘live’ run on 18th September which was sponsored by Woodland Group. But with the event unexpectedly curtailed, riders were undaunted; setting out individually, or with their clubs, to complete their own runs of 60 miles or longer.

To-date over £15,000 has been raised and the total is still climbing. As well as Woodland Group, thanks also go to the T-shirt sponsors: Colchester Kawasaki, Hythe Hill Motorcycles, Templant, Sorry Mate, and Collier & Catchpole.

SAVE THE DATE! The Annual Motorcycle Run will be back on Sunday 10th September 2023

Here are just a few ‘I Did it My Way’ messages from those that took part…

Mike Britt

“A quick photo from my contribution to the “I did it my way” ride. Photo taken at Broadway Tower half way around a 230 mile loop.
Keep flying guys.

Dave Ing

I did it my way.
My late father was a member of Capitol Wings Goldwing club and a marshal for you on the run. It was one of his favourite events of the year and I decided to take his crash helmet out for our 60 mile trip today.
Kind regards

Simon (Arnie) Chase

Me, my son in law Rob and close buddy Neil did around 120 miles today.

We started in Bishops Stortford, rode to Haverhill via Steeple Bumpstead then on to Barton Mills for a bit of brekkie, on to Moulton Packhorse Bridge for a photo stop returning home via Saffron Walden.

John

As the motorcycle run was cancelled to allow for a memorial to Her Majesty and to recognise her service, I decided to focus my run on service and remembrance. Four of my photos capture that theme.

Run: Chelmsford-Rettendon-South Woodham Ferrers-Burnham on Crouch-Bradwell on sea RAF Memorial-Maldon- Danbury-Chelmsford; total distance 68 miles.
