Essex & Herts Air Ambulance’s (EHAAT) shop in Frinton-on-Sea has been officially opened by Mrs Bonnie Hill MBE, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex. This takes the total number of EHAAT Charity shops across Essex and Hertfordshire to seven.

A brief ceremony took take place at the shop, located in the Frinton Triangle Shopping Centre, on Friday 15th February at which Mrs Hill cut a ribbon to mark the occasion. Phil Caborn, a Trustee of EHAAT and Jane Gurney, the Charity’s Chief Executive, each spoke briefly at the event.

Other guests included; Mrs Iris Johnson the Mayor of Frinton, Tina Whatling from Harwich who was airlifted by EHAAT in 2016, plus Staff and Volunteers from the shop.

Mrs Iris Johnson, the Mayor of Frinton, said: “I’m delighted to be here today to support this fantastic charity. I was fascinated to hear that it costs in the region of £750,000 per month to fund EHAAT. I hope that people will consider supporting the Charity as you never know when you are going to need them.”

Mrs Bonnie Hill MBE, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex said: “The value EHAAT brings to the community simply cannot be measured, when you consider the number of people who would not be alive today but for the service it provides. The Volunteers who support it make a major contribution to our community.”

Tina Whatling, airlifted by EHAAT in 2016 following a cardiac arrest said: “If it wasn’t for the paramedics of the land ambulance and the EHAAT crew I wouldn’t be here celebrating the opening of the Frinton charity shop and my 44th wedding anniversary, which is also today.”

Pam Withrington, Fundraising & Marketing Director said: “It’s been a great day, and we’re very grateful to the people of Frinton for the warm welcome they have given our latest charity shop. Our Charity continues to make a difference to people’s lives every single day. By visiting one of our shops to donate goods or purchase something, people can help keep their local life-saving service operational.”
