Supporters of Essex & Herts Air Ambulance have `risen’ to the challenge of supporting the Charity with a series of cake-related fundraisers this summer.

Over ninety groups and individuals across Essex and Hertfordshire responded to a call to hold `A Very British Afternoon Tea’ to raise funds, raising £16,000 in the process.

In Essex venues included everywhere from a one-acre garden in Kirby-le-Soken to a housewarming party in Bures.

Members of Nordic Walking Watford had tea break with a difference while they were exploring the Hertfordshire countryside, Ardeley WI had a cake-filled Sunday afternoon and customers of several banks were able to indulge themselves with a teatime treat as they checked their finances.

Even members of the EHAAT crew got involved, with suggestions of favourite recipes for fundraisers to use.

From sweet treats to savoury nibbles, from indoor tea parties to outdoor picnics, supporters enjoyed this very British tradition in return for a small donation to the Air Ambulance.

Sabi Stafford, Essex Fundraising Manager for EHAAT said: “The sun has shone this summer, and so have our wonderful supporters.

“Over ninety people and groups have organised `A Very British Afternoon Tea’ and we estimate the final total raised will be over £16,000, which is amazing.

“This has been a great way to get together with friends and family and indulge in some treats while raising money for the Air Ambulance.

“It costs more than £500,000 a month to keep the service running smoothly and we couldn’t do it without the dedication and support of the people of Essex and Hertfordshire.”
