Celebrating Our Trustees During Trustees’ Week

This Trustees’ Week (3-9 November), we’re saying a huge thank you to our incredible Board of Trustees who give their time, skills and experience to help guide Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT). Their support and leadership make a huge difference in helping us deliver our life-saving work across Essex and Hertfordshire.

We’re also delighted to welcome two new trustees, Dame Alwen Williams and Tony McHugh, who bring a wealth of experience to the charity.

Dame Alwen Williams joins us after an impressive 43-year career in the NHS, including 20 years as a CEO. As Chief Executive of Barts Health, she led one of the country’s largest NHS trusts through major transformation and the Covid-19 pandemic. Alwen now works in strategic advisory and leadership roles within the NHS and with the Health Foundation, and is also a trustee of Barts Heritage.

Tony McHugh is a CIMA-qualified accountant with extensive experience across finance, contract management and change management. He’s worked in sectors from healthcare to defence, and led the successful outsourcing of fire training for the London Fire Brigade. Locally, Tony is an active member of the Great Dunmow Round Table, supporting community fundraising events – and when he’s not working, he’s likely out on his bike or playing a game of squash!
