Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) urgently needs Volunteers to assist at its shops in Hertfordshire.

The Charity is keen to recruit people willing to give some time to help at its premises in Buntingford, Royston, Hitchin and Ware and a Donation Drop-Off Point in Stevenage.

Jane Morton, EHAAT’s Volunteer Manager said, “We could not do the work we do without the amazing support we get from Volunteers. Our current Volunteers do a fantastic job, but our shops really need more help.

Volunteers play a vital role in helping us raise the money that enables us to carry out our life-saving work. As well as our shops, we need Volunteers to look after collection tin rounds, help at fundraising events, assist with administrative tasks and give Airbase tours.”

Sharon Robinson, who helps at the Buntingford shop, started volunteering after a conversation with shop manager Nicola Waddup and says it has helped her make new friends.

I met Nicola in the shop and immediately got on with her. She mentioned about volunteering and I was interested.

The people in the community come into the shop for a chat as much as to shop. I’d say to potential Volunteers that it is very rewarding knowing your time is such a help to the Charity. Meeting local people is amazing and makes you feel a real part of the local community.”

Yvonne Young, a Volunteer in the EHAAT shop in Royston, says she has been made very welcome.

Tina the manager was very friendly and helpful when I enquired about volunteering, and of course it is a really worthwhile cause. The best thing about working here is meeting people. If anyone is thinking about volunteering, I would say `go for it!’.”

Anyone interested in volunteering at any of EHAAT’s shops can speak to their local shop manager or contact Volunteer Manager Jane Morton on 0345 2417 690 or jane.morton@ehaat.org
